In June and July, the elderberry is covered in large, flat, creamy-white flower shields, with a strong, sweet aroma. These flowers are not only excellent honey plants, but also a valuable raw material for syrups and teas. In autumn, the tree is decorated with clusters of shiny black berries (edible), which are a real vitamin bomb and a treat for birds. The black elderberry is incredibly unpretentious and hardy, able to grow almost anywhere, but will bloom and produce most abundantly in the sun.
