Cherry plum 'Nigra' (Prunus cerasifera)

Cherry plum ' Nigra' is a spectacular ornamental tree that provides color in the garden all season long. Its main value is its dark purple, almost black foliage, which creates an excellent background for other plants and does not lose its intensity even in the hot summer sun.

In spring, at the end of April and the beginning of May, before the leaves bloom, the tree is covered in a cloud of soft pink flowers. The contrast between the dark branches and the light flowers is amazing. It is an unusually modest, urban-friendly and hardy plant, which changes its purple dress to even more glowing pink tones in the fall.
