Exquisite and impressive, the Chinese grimonis eventually becomes a graceful multi-stemmed small tree with a slightly spreading crown. Its calm growth rate gives the tree a restrained elegance, while the slightly curved dark green leaves turn warm yellow and reddish tones in autumn.
In early summer, the delicate inflorescences are surrounded by four elegant creamy-white petals, seemingly floating easily between the leaves, but later the characteristic red, strawberry-like fruits appear, adding decorativeness at the end of the season. The flower is relatively large, up to 6 cm. It grows best in fertile, humus-rich soil and is somewhat drought-resistant, making it a valuable specimen in sheltered areas.
